DAY 1 ON THE OVERLAND ADVENTURE. WE'LL PASS THROUGH THE FOLLOWING COUNTRIES AND COVER APPROXIMATELY 18,000 KMS:
SOUTH AFRICA, BOTSWANA, ZAMBIA, MALAWI, TANZANIA, KENYA, UGANDA, RWANDA, MOZAMBIQUE, SWAZILAND, LESOTHO.
After quite a bit of prepping, the journey has begun.
We depart from Somerset West at about 2 PM today.
Lot's of friends had gathered to wish us a happy journey and to wave
good bye. It was quite a crowd who cheered as we climbed into the Disco.
First though, a ceremonial cutting of the ribbon.
The car is fully packed with all sorts of equipment,
and it took us all the better part of last night to get everything in
order for take off. Now we're on our way to Calvinia, where we will
spend the first night of this trip.
